Rise and Thrive

"You can have the other words-
chance, luck, coincidence, serenditipty.
I'll take grace.
I don't know what it is exactly,
but I'll take it."
Mary Oliver

It gets easier. And then it doesn't. Tsunamis happen, they knock us down, we grieve, we get back up. And then another wave comes. As we mature, they seem to get a little easier, a little less devastating. Sometimes. And thank goodness for that. But the waves keep coming. That's the nature of life, of samsara.

So what do we do? Give up? Lay down and die or never get out of bed to hide from the next unknown wave? Hmmmm. Not the worst idea... but I don't think that's what we're doing. I don't think that's why we're here.

I think we are all doing our best, to live, to love, to know ourselves and others, to help ourselves and others. And when the waves knock us down, we need help. I need help. Right now, I need help. And so what I've been doing a hundred times a day, is inviting the divine feminine in. I'm inviting her to inhabit my belly, to fill my feet, to breathe my body. I'm supplicating her from the bottom of my heart to please be with me, be with me here, in my body, as I am.

I am asking her to simply be with me as I navigate this wave. And I feel her. For sweet, peaceful moments here and there, I feel her.

And I ask you- what do you need? What/who is waiting to be invited in to your body-being to help you navigate your next wave? Is it playfulness? Joy? Grounding? Is it the energy of the ocean or the sky? Is it a particular deity or spiritual being you connect with? It actually doesn't matter who or what it is, what matters is that we can't and don't have to do this alone. And when we are vulnerable enough to ask, to invite, to supplicate- we are open to being nourished and supported, so we can swim through the wave instead of drowning.

I especially recommend dancing what you need into your body-being. With music or without, with tears, tissues or ecstatic laughter, with screams, pounding feet or angry swearing, do it the way you need to do it. And ask for what you need. 2017 may be a nice relief from 2016, but, people...our government....fuck. Let's just say there will be many waves for many people. We will need ourselves, each other, and we will be needed. Dance it in now. There's no time to lose.

Dance Invitation: Think about what would help you navigate your life, your waves better? What is waiting to help you? Invite it in with your whole body, from your toes to your heart to your organs to your love- and see what happens. Be open and see...
